Anthology Senior Living of Simsbury, 142 Cooper Avenue, Weatogue, CT is currently seeking an Engagement Associate to join our community.
Position Scope: The Engagement Associate is responsible for ensuring safe driving of the Community’s van and car, and supervision of residents during property outings. The Engagement Associate will also assist carrying out activities within the property as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Operates property vehicle/van safely for daily outings and medical appointments. • Assists with the safe loading of residents on to and off of property vehicle/van. • Follows all state laws when operating the vehicle/van. Complies with standards and processes of vehicle/van inspection and driving. • Acts as a member of the activity staff when on outings and within the Community. • Actively promotes participation in all social activities by all residents. • Serves as liaison with organizations and groups desiring to involve guests in programs sponsored by them. • Participates in daily outings with the residents to include assistance on and off the vehicle/van, supervision of residents, assistance with personal care, and participation in planned activities. • Assists with planned property activities and programs within the community between vehicle/van trips. • Responsible for ensuring that the vehicle/van is in proper operational order, registration and insurance information is present and up-to-date. Promptly reports all vehicle/van safety, mechanical or maintenance issues to supervisor. • Maintains communication with the property through use of the cell phone. • Understands that resident safety is paramount. Offers feedback to property staff on ways to improve safety during vehicle/van trips. • Trains Community staff on the proper loading/unloading of the vehicle/van and wheelchair lift usage. • Adheres to all mandated reporting requirements and communicates concerns to immediate supervisor. • Provides support to Community’s marketing efforts through positive/friendly interaction during all property tours and telephone contact with the public, as directed by a supervisor.
• Communicates any noticeable differences in resident behavior and/or observed or suspected resident change of condition to a supervisor immediately. • Performs day-to-day clerical work connected with the position. • Attends all scheduled in-service classes. • Maintains a clean, safe and secure environment for all staff, residents and guests, following established standards. • Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments. • Supports a positive and professional image through actions and dress. • Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Recent history of care experience in the senior housing setting. • Excellent customer service and communication skills. • Positive and cheerful disposition. • Good teacher. • Proven leadership and organizational qualities. • Knowledge of progression and care of dementia residents. • High school graduate or equivalent GED. • Currently certified or willing to maintain CPR Certification. • Valid and applicable state drivers’ license and no major driving violations for the past three (3) years.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: • Walk/Stand – must be able to continuously walking and standing • Environment Condition – must be able to perform work both inside and outside • Sit – sit infrequently • Lift - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds • Carry - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds • Push - constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11 – 50 pounds, occasionally 51 – 100 pounds • Climb – must be able to climb stairs on a frequent basis, with the opportunity to utilize the elevator as an alternate resource if available • Bend – must be able to bend at the waist, knees, hips and spine on a frequent basis while physically assisting a resident; may require frequently manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more. • Squat – must be able to squat on a frequent basis to reach below the knee to assist with physical care of a resident requiring lift of 50 pounds or less. • Twist or rotate – must be able to twist or rotate occasionally at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck while providing physical assistance for residents, manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more. • Reach– must be able to reach on a frequent basis while providing for resident care. May occasionally reach overhead, requiring manipulation of weight of 10 pounds or less, and below waist manipulating weight of 25 pounds or more. • Hand Dexterity - Constant requirement of hand dexterity for arranging medications and resident personal care items such as dentures, hearing aids and other grooming items. Occasional typing, telephone usage and paperwork sorting
• Sensory Vision – must be able to read clearly with or without corrective lenses • Hear - Must be able to hear telephone, audible alarms, bells and signals related to resident safety with or without hearing devices. • Speech/Language – must have strong command of English sufficient to read and write and interpret medical and administration information.
