POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Senior Mechanical Maintenance Tech is responsible for performing maintenance of the mechanical / process operations, equipment reliability and preventative maintenance used in the operation of our manufacturing facility. Assists in facilities / buildings and grounds maintenance.

 

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on pumps, motors, mechanical drives and mechanical systems.
  • Performs welding of stainless steel and steel proficiently - MIG, TIG & Stick
  • Performs plumbing of steam, water and air using pipe threaders, rigid pro-press and soldering techniques.
  • Performs root cause analysis and corrective action implementation of pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical components on process and packaging machinery systems and using various troubleshooting methodologies and testing procedures.
  • Performs general facilities repairs - HVAC and evacuation fans.
  • Perform maintenance on grounds equipment.
  • Performs routine repairs equipment (lawn mowers, leaf blowers, UTV's)
  • Performs PMs of Air handing Units. Evacuation fans and blowers, chillers, and boilers.
  • Draft and maintain regulatory documents as needed.
  • Maintains compliance with all Federal, State and local rules and regulations.
  • Maintains and promotes positive behaviors to always ensure a safe working environment; promotes compliance with GMP and SOPs at the facility and in their role.
  • Able to effectively communicate with employees, vendors and management.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds; may also be asked to work in confined spaces and in elevated areas.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

 

Required Education & Experience

  • 10 years mechanical repair experience in facilities / manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of similar work experience in a FDA regulated facility or industry
  • Strong working knowledge of pumps, mechanical drives, fans, HVAC
  • Familiar with all local, state, and federal codes regulations specifically the NEC, 70E, Confined Space & Lockout/Tagout.
  • Proven previous experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds; may also be asked to work in confined spaces and in elevated areas.
  • Strong regulatory compliance behaviors in GMP/SOP’s and Safety.
  • Good teambuilding and communication skills required.


Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Welding - MIG, TIG & Stick
  • Plumbing - Black Iron, copper and stainless lines 
  • Hydraulics - troubleshooting systems
  • Pneumatics - Troubleshooting pneumatic systems
  • Pumps - theory of operation and repair of AOD, Stacked Turbine, Centrifugal and positive displacement pumps

 

 

Working Conditions:  

  • This position will be required to perform work in permit required confined space.
  • Climb 12 ft ladders and stairs.
  • Work in elevated platforms at least 36 ft off the ground and in a pit 26 ft below ground.
  • Wear required PPE as needed - safety glasses, hairnets, booties, beard guards, SCBA, respirators
