National Truck Purchasing Specialist

Reporting to the Director, the National Truck Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the Canada Cartage purchasing department and all related processes associated with the acquisition of rolling stock.

Responsibilities Include

  • Responsibility for administration of each new truck and or trailer purchase (from business case to final vehicle delivery)

  • In conjunction with National Fleet Director, create and maintain national and/or regional vehicle specifications with specific focus on total cost of ownership

  • In conjunction with the procurement admin support role, manage and maintain CCS internal procurement share point site (RFP’s, discussion boards document libraries) and procurement email address

  • Establish and maintain relationships with all national vendors

  • Proactively work with each regional director on all equipment replenishment requests (Company owned assets and FSL vehicles), and equipment disposal requests

  • Act as a liaison between CCS corporate finance and full service lease vendors

  • Assist corporate finance team with month end fixed asset reporting

  • Ensure all new vehicles are property set up in the equipment management software

  • Continually strives to improve work processes, methods, environment, customer service, personal and team performance.

  • Other responsibilities as required

    Core Competencies and Qualifications

    Minimum 2 years related transportation experience

    Previous purchasing experience with a transportation or similar company

    Management or supervisory experience is an asset

    Previous OEM related experience would be considered an asset (sales or other)

    Strong knowledge of vehicle specs and design

    Costing / Pricing knowledge is an asset

    Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing

    Ability to work with and support all team members, management and shareholders

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    Strong planning and organizational skills

    Ability to work well independently, and within a team environment

    University degree or other related post-secondary education preferred
