Location: Direct Distribution Centres – Winnipeg, MB
Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm with opportunities for overtime
Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Team Lead is a union position responsible for achieving the prescribed company objectives for safety, efficiency, quality, inventory accuracy and customer service in their assigned department. Particular emphasis is placed on the smooth and efficient operations of the department team, with a focus on safety and productivity to achieve Key Performance Indicators.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary function of the Team Lead is to ensure the department team is adhering to the proper processes and procedures, follow safety policies, and are fully trained to perform their assigned functions:
Monitor department team members to ensure safety and efficiency
Ensure On-Time Shipping/Receiving
Maintain the department area to ensure safety and cleanliness
Meet customer service expectations
Meet Company Productivity expectations
Monitor employee performance.
Oversee the operation of the department to achieve prescribed objectives.
Set an example to all Team Members of professional and ethical work practices.
Ensure Team Member training is conducted using Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensure Team Members are completing time sheets accurately and on-time.
Training and supervision of temp labor on a daily basis.
Monitor KPIs and assist with management of staff to meet KPI objectives.
Supervise safety, security and housekeeping.
Observes work performance of Team Members and ensures work is performed in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Report safety incidents to the Operations Supervisor and assist with incident investigations.
Assists Team Members in the performance of their assigned duties.
Evaluate housekeeping, security and safety standards on a daily basis.
Review department operations daily to ensure the warehouse is neat, secure and organized.
Monitor operations to ensure that damage to product, equipment and the facility are prevented and reported.
Reinforces Team Member safety awareness by communicating equipment/procedure changes to Team Members. Provides general communication on relevant safety issues and concerns.
Address any safety concerns brought forward by team members.
Report any MHE deficiencies to the Operations Supervisor.
Accountable to the Operations Supervisor for the efficient performance of all assigned duties and responsibilities.
Co-ordinates activities with co-workers, Team Members, and temporary staff.
Assists CSRs in troubleshooting and resolving day-to-day issues and activities.
Communicates with customers, carriers and vendors as required via phone and email.
Coordinates with drivers and carriers for inbound and outbound loads.
Ensures goods are released with the proper documentation.
Core Competencies and Qualifications:
Must demonstrate effective communication skills orally and in writing.
Must demonstrate sound analytical and problem solving skills
A minimum 3-5 year experience working in warehousing and distribution required.
Experience in de-stuffing an sorting operation an asset.
Must be familiar with all material handling equipment.
Must be capable of coordinating the training of subordinates to ensure the adequate development of work skills.
Experience in a warehouse RF environment is a requirement.
