Materials, Planning & Logistics Manager


Creative Foam’s, Athens, Tennessee facility has an outstanding opportunity for a MP&L Manager. This key leadership position manages all materials, planning and logistics activities within the facility. 


This critical position reports to the Director of Operations. Key Responsibilities and job requirements are noted below.


Key Responsibilities:

·      Review and improve processes for overall MP&L activity to support methods and policies ensuring most efficient and economical movement of all materials in and out of the plant

·      Ensure plant MP&L team is communicating schedules/releases/forecasts to suppliers per company processes, with correct lead times to communicate with suppliers

·      Ensure plant MP&L team is proactively scheduling freight to drive efficiency in system

·      Manage, train and support MP&L team on the company processes, systems, etc., which includes Customer Service

·      Drive continuous improvement and coach problem resolution

·      Maintains effective communications with all departments within the organization

·      Lead any recovery actions necessary due to unplanned events in supply chain

·      Participate in annual cost reductions, MP&L contributes annually in cost reductions related to freight, packaging and indirect spend

·      Maintains liaison among departments, plants and other divisions to provide efficient customer delivery service

·      Analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems and recommends solutions

·      Tracks material costs for inventory levels, budget and new programs

·      Creates and generates internal management reports to track performance and costs related to, inventory, transportation, cost savings, production and sales

·      Ensure proper material flow from receiving dock, to warehouse storage location, to the production line feed location, to the delivery of finished product to customers

·      Provide direction and support in the allocation of resources in order to appropriately cover material handling responsibilities

·      Ensure flawless introduction of new parts to production through proactive planning and cross-functional communication

·      Responsible for the daily material handling functions for the facility and for the department

·      Identify data gaps in missed productions counts, etc. and take corrective actions

·      Assist Quality in material planning and logistic initiatives

·      Manage all MP&L inputs into the customer portals

·      Scheduling incoming materials delivery points and outbound times

·      Create a conducive work environment for the team to complete their assigned responsibilities/tasks

·      Coach safety, quality and productivity to ensure objectives are met through following standardized work


Requirements:

·      Bachelor’s Degree; Business, Administration, Accounting, Engineering and Logistics Degrees preferred

·      5-6 years in Manufacturing environment working with process of meeting schedules and managing/supervising people

·      Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles

·      Must have strong learning skills to work with multiple company systems as well as outside customer systems

·      Must have understanding of domestic and international logistics

·      Must have very strong computer and analytical skills and be excellent at producing schedules and cost comparisons

·      Strong organizational, planning and documentation skills

·      Proven ability to manage people and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

·      Action oriented, results driven
