A global leader in metal recycling employing 4500 staff across 170 locations around the world. The recycling process begins with the collection of scrap metal from businesses, manufacturers, construction sites, government bodies and the general public. Our Transport function is underpinned by a vast fleet of dedicated vehicles and advanced computer planning/ tracking systems.
This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with people and organising tasks as this role underpins the transport services for our internal and external customers.
What will the apprentice be doing?
Working in our busy transport offices, you will help ensure that requests for transport services are captured, recorded accurately and responded to in line with the previously agreed internal or external customer requirements. You will manage queries from Drivers, Internal Depots and Customers, ensuring requests and information are processed efficiently.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
· Talking to customers and recording requests
· Routing deliveries and collections
· Compliance with transport policies, procedures and legislation
· Helping to ensure vehicles are scheduled for service/safety inspections
· Collating various reports
· Supporting a positive Health and Safety ethic
· Ensuring drivers complete paperwork correctly
· Capturing feedback
· Using planning/routing/tracking software
· Managing drivers training records plans
· Tracking equipment and managing transport digital data
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
This Apprenticeship is ideally suited to an individual who is interested in a future career in Logistics and Transport and upon successful completion of the Transport Coordinator Apprenticeship, further job opportunities would be available.

Things to consider
Transport offices are often high pressure working environments where quick, logical thinking is required and staff must support each other and remain calm and professional at all times. You must be a team player to excel in this role.
GCSE or equivalent English (Grade C or above) desired
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade C or above) desired

£16,000 annual salary
40hrs 8am – 5pm Monday-Friday (Occasional Saturday working)
1 hour unpaid lunch break
23 days holiday
