Job Title: Manager, Scientific Services                                               Department: Peer-to-Peer

 

Reports To: President                                                                        FLSA Status: Full-Time/Exempt



Position Summary:

The Manager, Scientific Services will be responsible for managing the Medical Writing department and for the development and creation of all peer-to-peer and promotional deliverables.



 

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Management and oversight of the Medical Writing team, including managing and evaluating the performance of 2-3 or more direct reports
  • Develops standard operating procedures, checklists and training materials
  • Works with Project Management to determine workload and triage and delegate project work to members of the writing team
  • Writes and develops content for peer-to-peer, educational, and promotional projects for clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries
  • Ensures content and copy are accurate and align with the overall medical and scientific strategy
  • Supports scientific education of the agency by writing and executing learning curricula on identified topics
  • Acts as a resource on scientific and medical aspects of assigned products for other agency functional areas
  • Ensures content is appropriately annotated and sourced
  • Monitors overall quality of agency writing from a scientific viewpoint
  • Develop content utilizing various mediums, most often using PowerPoint
  • Conducts literature searches on disease topics as it relates to a client or agency need
  • Consistently meets deadlines and works within timelines of the team
  • Manages numerous and overlapping projects
  • Ensures writing labor stay within client budget and hours
  • Leads writing team in client meetings, as requested
  • Fosters positive relationships between writing team and other agency functional areas
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1-2 Years management experience preferred
  • Masters of Science or PhD preferred
  • Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Pharmaceutical and/or medical device experience preferred
  • Understanding of PhRMA guidelines
  • Strong experience with PowerPoint
  • Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry commercial environment preferred
  • Strong customer service skills with a commitment to superior quality
  • Must be self-motivated, professional, and detail oriented
  • Comfortable working under pressure within tight deadlines
  • MS Office Suite, including PowerPoint and Word
