Job Title: Media Director


Position Summary

The role of Media Director is expected to have experience in the healthcare and life science industry to guide our agency’s media capabilities, establish agency media processes, guide the development and growth of a media team with the support of the VP of Digital, all while bringing his/her years of experience to execute media placements online and offline for our current clients.

 

The ideal candidate is a thoughtful and measured media professional with experience leading a team, while collaborating with key agency partners across creative, account, strategy and analytics teams. Focused on leading media planning and buying the Media Director will stay on top of healthcare media platforms and trends, HCP media engagement channels and patient engagement trends; ensuring our media planners recommend the most relevant and optimal media tactics along the HCP and patient journey, while advising on KPIs. The Media Director position is ideal for a candidate who has a natural curiosity and drive, enjoys collaboration and working in a fast-paced environment, and has a passion to succeed. 


Essential Functions & Primary Duties

  • Establish media planning process in collaboration with key agency stakeholders
  • Establish media buying process and documentation templates necessary to successfully place media, manage assets, POs, etc. with the Digital Director
  • Design and review advertising budgets with Media Planners and Account Leads
  • Guide the build of client-facing media plans with media flight details and KPIs
  • Oversee all media vendor relationships for negations and contracts
  • Serve as escalation point of contact for media vendors
  • Guide media planners and buying in negotiation best practices with media channels to close competitive deals
  • Oversee the media team’s creation and management media campaigns
  • Oversee and influence required analytics tracking needs for all digital media placements, continually educating and guiding media planners and analytics team
  • Recommend and manage agency media activation and research tools  
  • Lead the growth of the media team as agency need grows
  • Represent and advocate for the media team at agency management meetings and with agency leadership

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or public relations
  • 7+ years of experience in media planning and buying
  • Multidisciplinary background including traditional and digital media
  • Excellent research, methodology and planning skills
  • Strong writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Solid comprehension of marketing (understanding of sales methodology preferred)
  • Ability to interpret media performance and make sound recommendations
  • Experience in collaborating with analytics managers in performance reporting 
  • Experience with B2B and B2C audiences (pharma or medical device preferred)
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Understanding or marketing regulations within the pharma and medical device space preferred
