DESCRIPTION

HappiLabs is a small business based in Chicago that provides a service to scientists called the Virtual Lab Manager. We support scientists in various ways, virtually, and act as an outsourced purchasing department (some might say a Personal Shopper) for biotech companies and scientific research labs.


As the Business Operations Manager, you will take on strategic, analytical, and operational projects with the intent to help us grow the business. If you love analyzing data or numbers and playing with innovative technology, HappiLabs might be the right fit for you.


EXPERIENCE

A strong candidate will enjoy this role if  3+ of these bullet points resonates with you:

  • You graduated college with a Bachelor’s Degree in STEM or Business
  • 3+ years working at a small business or startup
  • You have created something useful or have a track record of quantifiable problem solving
  • 3+ years of focused experience with Data Analytics, Business Operations (legal, HR, or accounting), and/or Project Management 
  • You love technology, especially hardware


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review operational and financial data
  • Develop business intelligence reports to monitor and improve KPIs
  • Report progress and solve problems at team meetings
  • Manage interactions between our outsourced accounting, legal and IT firms
  • Maintain a system for tracking our hardware and software tools
  • Be at our Chicago offices at least 3+ days per week
  • Keep the CEO focused
  • 1 direct report. Report to the VP of Operations and CEO

DESIRED SKILLS AND TRAITS

  • Great attention to detail or organizational OCD
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; manage multiple priorities/projects at once
  • You will need to prove that you are very organized
  • Experience manipulating data and presenting via Domo, Excel, and G Suite (Extra points for ETL & SQL)
  • Excellent communication and social skills
  • Friendly, innovative, and tough.
  • Mac/iOS user AND comfortable with Google products
  • A passion for science and desire to make a difference in the world


COMPENSATION 

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • $60-80k, depending on experience
