Job Title: Shop Supervisor

Location: IWA Charity Shop Clonakilty

Hours: Permanent, part time contract- 14 hours per week

Salary: €11.50 per hour

Reporting to: Retail Development Coordinator


SOME OF THE KEY OBJECTIVES & REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

  • Operate the retail charity shop to provide the maximum income and profit for the Association
  • Exercise a supervisory role as appropriate, managing and guiding staff and volunteers; arranging rosters and rotas including holiday leave; providing leadership and motivating the team; recruiting shop volunteers
  • To oversee and to directly carry out all the day to day operations of the shop: dealing with customers, sorting, ironing and cleaning of stock; pricing of goods for resale; display of items; recycling of unused stock; processing receipts and lodgements; managing petty cash expenditure
  • Sustain a high standard of customer care
  • Ensure that the sales team is appropriately trained on a day-to-day basis
  • Participate in the recruitment of new staff members and reach and attract the best applicants
  • Ensure the shop stock and the shop itself are well presented with a high standard of cleanliness
  • Monitor utility bills, stock, cash handling and lodgements
  • Provide accurate daily and weekly reporting sheets for shop activity and all other administration paperwork 
  • To assist with other IWA fundraising activities such as Angel Day or other local and national initiatives that are arranged
  • Any other duties that may be requested by Retail Development Coordinator or Retail Manager


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the retail (fashion) area and management of a business is essential
  • Experience of working in customer facing role is essential
  • Be capable of handling cash and meeting reporting standards
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence staff
  • Ability to allocate time effectively, handle multiple demands and competing priorities
  • Excellent problem solving and attention to detail skills are essential
  • An awareness of the local community
  • An ability to use social media and source donations through marketing
  • Develop a loyalty to our brand and the shop local through fundraising events
