It’s 9am on the first Monday of the month. Our Global Sales Director, the Finance Director and the Sales Managers are preparing for their meeting at 11 am. You need to organise all of the business intelligence required to assess the previous month’s performance and plan for the following month. You update the report triggers, metrics, debug the errors, and run the reports.
Up next is training for a new solution being rolled out at our Colombian business unit. The modules you’ve devised include a webinar, in collaboration with the in-house training manager, a live demo of the product and a feedback session. But it doesn’t end there. You’ll be supporting the team remotely over the next few weeks as they get to grips with the new processes, whilst also looking for opportunities to make further enhancements and deliver more benefits.
You’ll take a break for lunch, followed by 30 minutes to advance your own knowledge. Today’s online module will be focusing on the five phases of change management. You look forward to applying this knowledge to a new project launching later this month.
Then it’s back to operations to conduct requirement-gathering interviews with sales, customer service and management staff for a new Salesforce app, which will dramatically improve efficiency. You can run through the outputs with colleagues later today in your team meeting. You’ll also be discussing how to improve the job ticket system and how to apply Scrum methodology to Sales Operations projects.
You’ll finish the day, making some minor tweaks and doing some quality assurance checks on our telephony platform and lead distribution system.
Welcome to the day in the life of a Business Analyst in Sales Operations at Kaplan International English. We’re a global English language business with 40 English schools around the world. Our Sales Operations team maintains and optimises our suite of technology systems - including Salesforce, which we use to manage our leads, opportunities and accounts, our call centre telephony system and our SMS platform. What this means in practice is ensuring that our systems are set up so that they are easy to use, our staff have access to the data they need with the minimum of effort, issues are fixed as quickly as possible when they do arise and improvements are continually made to drive sales.
We are looking for a highly logical, technically-minded graduate, with a strong interest in business and technology, to join our Sales Operations team as a Business Analyst. You’ll have a degree in a business or a technology-related field, intermediate Excel skills and some experience within a business setting. You’ll be someone who is eager to learn, loves problem solving and can demonstrate a strong interest in technology. Some knowledge of SQL and/or VBA would be useful but not essential. You’ll be great at engaging with people at different levels of the business, with the tenacity to follow an issue or a project through to completion. You’ll thrive in an environment where things happen quickly and deadlines matter.
