Kaplan Open Learning (University of Essex Online) is seeking to recruit educational specialists to develop content and teach on its recently validated Masters in Education programme.


The role largely involves developing content and teaching materials with a view to online delivery for our students. This will include the recording of audio lecture-casts, identification of appropriate reading and assessment design.


Opportunities to teach on the developed module, will include; moderating and grading assignments and discussion forums, providing online webinar sessions, answering queries from students and reviewing module content. A key part of this role is the ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a team, which involves regular contact with the programme head, to ensure the smooth running of the module and support student progression.


The work can be undertaken from home, anywhere in the UK, on a flexible, part-time basis, provided you have access to reliable broadband.


The successful candidates will have experience in a Higher Education setting in teaching and developing content in Education related programmes.


We would especially welcome applications from interested candidates who have experience in delivering materials at Masters’ level and could contribute to module material involving:


·        delivering effective teaching, learning and assessment

·        the theory and practice of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL)

·        philosophy of Education and theories of teaching and learning

·        the role of research and academic literature in developing practice

·        cognitive scientific research in relation to how people learn

·        current trends in the use and application of a variety of technological tools in educational contexts.


Full support and training will be provided in close collaboration with the Head of the Programme.


About you

The role of the Tutor/Content Developer offers an immediate start with remote working and hours that can fit around existing commitments. The role would suit part-time or retired tutors.


As a minimum, you will hold a postgraduate degree, or EdD/PhD and some experience of working on Education programmes using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Confidence with technology and remote working are essential. Although experience of working with a VLE is desirable, full training and support will be provided.


Suitable candidates must hold a UK address and bank account.
