The role

The York IPC content and marketing officer will be responsible for generating stories to help promote the IPC, the University of York and the city itself to international students. They will support existing promotional activity carried out by our Social Media Strategist and Video Producer who are both based in our central marketing team. This unique role will allow you to work in a dynamic, busy student environment and gain direct experience of producing user generated content for the international education industry.   


Key responsibilities

  • Development of strong relationships with students within the college to create a cohort of student ‘marketing’ ambassadors
  • Development of a system to follow and track students after they’ve graduated into the University of York – leading to the creation of a network of IPC alumni to enable stronger student stories
  • Development of strong relationships with the York university marketing team to make sure that we support them fully in promotion of the university to international students
  • Assist in planning, filming and editing York-focused videos for various digital channels under the guidance of our central Video Producer
  • Contribution to the college and University’s social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn and other relevant platforms, under the guidance of our central Social Media Strategist
  • Production of social media posts and shareable website content to help tell the University of York story to international students
  • Optimisation of content for social media channels to promote audience engagement and increase the college and University’s online presence
  • Assist with interviewing students and maintaining the University of York testimonial database
  • Monitor and report conversations, data and trends using our social media management tool


Candidate profile

Essential

  • A strong interest in digital media
  • Solid understanding of current social media best practices
  • An understanding of how to best tell a story on each social platform
  • A natural affinity with young people aged between 16 and 25
  • An interest in the concepts of content marketing
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Basic video editing skills
  • A proactive and independent character with lots of ideas and initiative
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent


Desirable

  • Knowledge of Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects)
  • Experience of working with students or young people
  • Familiarity with the principles of other online disciplines such as email marketing, PPC, content management and analytics.
  • Interest and understanding in photography
  • Ability to deliver high quality work under tight deadlines
