TITLE: Director Surgical Services(RN)

LOCATION: Outside of Wichita, Kansas

Manages the overall operation of Department of Surgical Services. 

Strives to achieve operating results through strategic thinking, maintaining a customer focus, building relationships, developing staff and motivating teams while ensuring cost effective, quality, customer directed care and services to the patients and customers of the Medical Center.

•24/7 oversight responsibility for Department of Surgical Services.

•Develops/reviews/revises policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and compliance with federal and state regulations.

•Improves the quality of patient care through staff education and development, physician, patient/family satisfaction promotion, performance improvement activities, staffing facilitation and scheduling.

•Promotes and role models effective communication, professional relationships and staff accountability.

•Provides patient care related to the age of the population served.

•Plans/organizes staff orientation/inservice.

•Creates an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals.

•Ensures departmental compliance with organizational, departmental specific policies/procedures, safety and health standards, and state/federal regulations.

•Collaborates with medical and professional staff of other departments to plan/coordinate joint patient and management objectives.

•Prepares departmental budget and ensures optimal allocation of staff to workload ratios, to meet budgetary goals/objectives.

•Coordinates departmental projects.

•Assumes accountability for identifying problems and issues, generating and supporting solutions, and anticipating effects of decision.

•Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).


Graduate of an approved school of nursing.

BSN and Masters required.

Several years of progressive management experience in the Surgical Services area.

Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Kansas or able to obtain.

Healthcare Provider BLS–if BLS is not American Heart Association, AHA BLS is required within three months of hire.


Facility is 200 beds.

OR is 10 rooms and they have 2 Endoscopy suites.

The director will oversee around 80 FTE's. Consist of 5 different areas(PAS, Same day care/PACU, OR, Endo, Sterile Processing).

Looking for someone that with business accumen(can handle the revenue & labor productivity) but understand the clinical piece as well.

Would like someone that can work with physicians and develop the relationship of being able to present what can and can't happen the why's.

The facility is offering a salary range between 80K-115K depending on experience and a great benefit package with relocation offered.
